With so many schools having to deal with disruptions caused by the covid pandemic, it’s amazing that any student has got to the end of the academic year with their brains still functioning. There’s been a terrifying number of students pinged because someone in their cohort has tested positive, or been in the company of someone who has, there has hardly been a week when a complete class has been in attendance for subjets. In fact for the first few weeks of covid, schools were shut down altogether and were expected to provide online lessons for home learning, despite so many families not having even the most basic laptop or tablet for their children. Gradually good souls like Lord Lieutenants and County Sheriffs, generally grace & favour appointees who then have to be seen to be paying something back to the society that voted them into their post found ways of providing their local schools with left over computer equipment. Many a school year has been kept afloat in the crashing waves of learning online.
